day twenty-eight/nine,thirty,thirty-one

tempeh (orange-glazed)

Tempeh is made from soybeans, kind of like tofu, but a different texture and a lot better in my opinion. We got the recipe from here, and we're quite pleased with it.

Day 29
korean market surprise

On Friday Eunice gave us a tour of the local Korean market that's just down the way from us, this is one of the many fun things we picked up. We liked it, but Jonas loved it.

Day 30
Yak

Savenors totally hooked us up with the yak steaks. Taste a little like cow steak, except for the slight undertone of _______ (unknown flavor) in the rare spots. I actually couldn't eat more than two bites, but don't take my word for it go and try it for yourself.

Day 31
vegan beef jerky

Eating this reminded me of a slim jim, the grainy meat texture that's packed into some kind of casing that you can never seem to chew through. It definitely had the same texture minus the casing, and add a licorice smell, which was weird. I would eat this again, especially if I ever go vegan.
