my secret garden

We got back into town last night and look what was waiting for us.

Me and these strawberries have been through a few rounds -- last year I loved them and cared for them and nothing, not even one strawberry. So I just forgot about them and piled 5 feet of snow over them for most of the winter. Then spring rolled around and just as I was about to clean the pots out and start anew, a little lowly sprig popped out, so I decided to let them be. Since then they've been growing, but somethings been eating all my strawberries before they even ripen. I like to tell myself it's a squirrel, but who knows... either way I finally have four very deformed strawberries, which I'm honestly a little hesitant to eat, but they're mine.
Who knew cucumbers looked so wierd
