day 111

cherimoya:
Yesterday on our weekly Market Basket run, Jonas and I eyed this little treasure. I was a little hesitant to pick it up seeing as it was right next to the cactus fruit, but I couldn't resist and luckily there were no prickilies of any kind.

The cherimoya is native to Peru and Chile, and according to one website taste like banana, strawberries, and pineapple all in ONE. With that knowledge in hand I decided to slice into it and this is how it went: First, revolted by the texture and the big black seeds. Second, revolted by the smell, it doesn't smell like strawberries, pineapples, or bananas. Next, I suggested that Rich try it first. Finally I tried it and it tasted like a mango. Who would have thought... it's actually a better deal than a mango. Rich and I agree, we'd eat this again.
